Posted on June 1, 2019June 1, 2019 by Zes

The whole point of crab fishing is to eat the crab you catch! Enjoy Jan’s easy recipe for boiled crab:

Ingredients

  1. Rock Salt
  2. Water
  3. Live crab

Equipment

  1. Large Pot
  2. Tongs to handle the crab
  3. Crab crackers

Method

  1. Cover bottom of a pot large enough to hold your crab with rock salt.
  2. Fill with water and bring to a roiling boil.
  3. Add crab. Bring back to a roiling boil. (Note: crab are easier to handle if they’ve been in the refrigerator.)
  4. Cook for 15-20 minutes, depending on crab size. They’ll turn bright orange.
  5. Cool crab in an ice bath to stop the cooking process.
  6. Drain. Divide. Discard carcass.
  7. Serve with butter dipping sauce (half a stick of melted butter, half a lemon, squeezed, garlic salt to taste).
